Labor Unions

Labor unions are organized associations of workers formed to protect and advance their rights and interests in the workplace. These groups negotiate with employers on behalf of their members regarding wages, working conditions, benefits, and other job-related matters. Labor unions aim to promote collective bargaining, which allows workers to come together as a single entity to negotiate more effectively than they could individually. Unions may also engage in political and social activism to support worker-friendly legislation and policies. Historically, labor unions have played a significant role in advocating for improved labor standards, such as the eight-hour workday, workplace safety regulations, and anti-discrimination laws.
